Trip Report - Damion Turpin

In Washington's quest to bring as many talented prospects as possible in the 2012 recruiting, the Husky coaches brought in several talented prospects this weekend to take in the Apple Cup on their official visits and one such player is Dominguez (Compton, Ca.) DE Damion Turpin who has the UW near the top of his list...

"The game was real nice," Turpin told "There were a lot of fans and it was hyped and loud and all of those things. It was a great time."

Turpin's host on his visit was LB Corey Waller and the two spent time reminiscing about their youth.

"We used to play basketball against each other, so it was cool seeing him again," Turpin, who is 6'3", 260 pounds, said. "We just talked about old times and hung out. It was really a lot of fun for me."

Turpin also noted he knew quite a few players already on the Husky roster as well as some of the recruits he was with.

"I know a lot of people up there," Turpin said. "It'd be great to have all those guys up there that I know real well if I go there."

Speaking of that, Turpin, who recently de-committed from UCLA said that Washington is at the top of the list at this point, although he still plans to visit a couple of other schools.

"As of right now you can consider me 'de-committed' from UCLA because of coach (Rick) Neuheisel probably getting fired and I just want to take some trips," Turpin said. "Washington is now at the top, but that's mainly because I love the coaches and because I've visited.

"I'll probably take a trip to Cal in December and possibly Arizona, but after that I'm not really sure.

"I like Washington a lot though. That program has a lot to offer and I really like the staff there."

We will have more from Turpin in the coming weeks as he gets closer to making his decision.
