McDaniel talks about his commitment to UW

Washington received it's 18th known commitment on Sunday night when North Torrance (Ca.) RB/LB Ryan McDaniel decided to end the recruiting process and become a Husky. caught up with the talented two-way star who is recovering from knee surgery and he said he still plans to enroll at Washington in the spring...

"Washington just had the right vibe for me," McDaniel told "It was down to Oregon and Washington and I went down to Oregon last week on my visit and I really had a great time there and I really liked it a lot, but there was just something about Washington and the coaches there, I just felt like they were the right school for me."

There has been some conjecture about whether McDaniel had an offer from the Ducks and he said that he indeed had an offer from the Oregon coaches.

"They had me bring up all my medical stuff and they took a look at it and they said they felt good about my chances at a full-recovery and they said they had an offer for me when I was there on my trip," McDaniel said.

Because he has the skill to play on both sides of the ball, McDaniel said the Husky coaches have yet to tell him where they'd prefer to see him play.

"Honestly, I really don't care," McDaniel said. "I just love playing football and I have really missed it over the last few months, so now that I'm rehabbing and on track to be ready to go, I'm just excited to get a chance to do it again, so playing offense or defense really doesn't matter to me."

McDaniel said he still plans to enroll at Washington for spring quarter and will finish up his schoolwork in late January.
