Trip Report - Jason Thompson

Unlike most commitments when they take official visits to UW, Kennedy (Burien, Wa.) QB/DB Jason Thompson could have probably been a host with the amount of time he's spent around the program. This weekend his only job was the enjoy his time on campus and to spend time with players who either have already committed to joining him with the Dawgs or prospects who could come into the fold...

"It was a good time, but I'd seen all of that stuff before," Thompson told "My brother (Everrette Thompson) was my host and we just got to spend time hanging out together and with the rest of the recruits.

"I've already spent so much time around the program, nothing was really new to me, but it was cool just to hang out and go out to dinner with the other prospects."

While on campus, Thompson also got a chance to go into a position meeting and had offers from three coaches on where he could go.

"I went in with coach (Jeff) Mills, but coach (Mike) Cox said he wanted me to drop by and coach (Doug) Nussmeier said I should stop by his," Thompson said. "Washington wants me at safety though, so I went in with coach Mills and it was fun going over film with him and watching how he coaches up his guys."

Early on, Thompson had said he was open> to going to a smaller school in order to play quarterback, but he told that's no longer something he's considering.

"I'm a Husky and I'm not going to change," Thompson said. "I'm fine with playing safety for them and I'm looking forward to playing with them next year."

This season Thompson starred on both sides of the ball for the Lancers completing 51 of 88 pass attempts for 744 yards with 13 touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing for 308 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, he posted 70 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions and two defensive scores as well.
