Eldrenkamp talks offers, timeline

After a slow start to the recruiting cycle, things have really picked up steam for Bellevue (Wa.) OL Jake Eldrenkamp who received offers from both Washington schools in early December. On Wednesday, Washington State Special Teams coach Eric Russell made a trip to the west side of the state to do an in-home visit and the senior offensive line prospect said he came away impressed...

"It was a real good visit," Eldrenkamp told Dawgman.com. "We just talked a lot about his history with coach (Mike) Leach and where they see the program going. It was good to get to know him a little better and show me what they are all about."

Eldrenkamp also spent time earlier today (Thursday) talking to Husky offensive line coach Dan Cozzetto who he said he really has a good feel for.

"We spent an hour talking about stuff," Eldrenkamp said. "I feel like we meshed really well and he's a lot like my offensive line coach from (Bellevue), coach (Pat) Jones, and I've seen the way he coaches his guys.

"We talked a lot about that and just how he expects a lot from his guys and I liked that."

Eldrenkamp has offers from Yale, Utah, Purdue, Oregon State and Brown, but this appears to be coming down to a two school battle with both in-state schools getting visits in the next few weeks.

"I'm visiting Washington State next weekend (January 13th) and I'm pretty much set up on a visit to Washington for January 20th," Eldrenkamp said. "That's the date we've been focusing on and working on setting up a trip for and I don't see it changing.

"After I get back, I'll probably make my decision a few days after that."

While playing on a couple of bad ankles, Eldrenkamp still managed to help lead Bellevue to their fourth-straight state title this year.

We will have more from Eldrenkamp after he takes his official visit to Montlake as well as when he is ready to make his decision.
