Huskies heavily in the mix for Wooching

It's been a wild week for Kealakehe (Kailua Kona, Hi.) RB Psalm Wooching as a couple of new offers have come in just in the past few days. caught up with the talented runner recently and he updated us on where things stand and why Washington is now one of his leaders...

"It's been crazy, but good," Wooching noted when we spoke to him Thursday afternoon. "I got offered by Hawaii earlier today and Washington offered me a couple of days ago when coach (Johnny) Nansen and coach (Steve) Sarkisian were here doing an in-home visit with me."

In fact, Washington has positioned themselves nicely by letting him know where they plan to play him.

"They are the only school recruiting me at running back so that's a big deal for me and it will be a big help in making my decision," Wooching said. "The rest of the schools see me as a fullback, but Washington likes me at running back and that'll play a big role in where I end up going."

Wooching committed to UCLA when head coach Rick Neuheisel was still in charge, but since he was fired, the talented runner said he's re-thinking things.

"Right now I'm just seeing what is out there and seeing what happens," Wooching said. "I'm visiting Washington on January 20th, UCLA I'm going to go see on Thursday next week so I guess that's the 12th (of January) and then I will see Colorado on January 28th and I will see Hawaii during the middle of the week because I don't have to fly to see them."

Wooching also broke down why each school is in his top five...

UCLA - "With UCLA, they were my first offer and they came after me hard and they are still coming after me. I committed there first, so that will play a part for me."

Washington - "With U-Dub, my whole family is from Seattle, so that is great and they have a great Poly culture and they said I can play running back and they are the only school saying I can do that."

Colorado - "I love the history of Colorado especially with their Heisman running back (Rashaan Salaam). They have really good coaches there."

Hawaii - "It's where I grew up and I know the area and the system really well. Coach (Norm) Chow likes me and I feel like I could be a good fit there if I end up there."

UNLV - "They are a real up-and-coming program and it would be fun helping to build that program up."
