Huskies could have inside track for Goforth

Long Beach (Ca.) Poly CB Randall Goforth committed to Arizona State early on, but when head coach Dennis Erickson was let go, he began to heavily consider several schools including Washington and right now, the Huskies appear to be in very good shape of ending up with him when Signing Day rolls around on February 1st...

"I actually just talked to two of the U-Dub coaches today," Goforth told Dawgman.com. "I spoke to coach Donte Williams, the DB coach, and we talked about a lot of stuff.

"He coached both of my brothers and I've known him since I was a little kid. I feel really comfortable with him and he's a big reason why I'm favoring Washington.

"He understands me and how I need to be coached and I like that a lot."

Williams was brought on by Washington as a Defensive Grad Assistant, but when former corners coach Demetrice Martin decided to go to UCLA, he became the coach of the Husky corners, but with the Huskies still in search of two coaches on the defensive side of the ball, Williams' status still appears to be in flux.

"If coach Williams isn't going to be there permanently, then I don't know how interested I'm going to be in them," Goforth said.

In addition to his interest in Washington, it appears that UCLA and Arizona State appear to be in his top three as well.

"Coach Martin never really talked to me when he was at U-Dub, but now he's recruiting me hard for UCLA," Goforth said. "I am setting up a visit with them, probably for the end of the month, and I'm visiting Arizona State on January 20th and I'm visiting Washington on the 13th.

"When I've taken all of my visits, that's when I will sit down with my family and make my decision.

"It could be Signing Day or maybe a couple of days before. I really don't know when it will be at this point."

We'll continue to keep track of Goforth and will get an update from him after he finishes his official visit to Washington next week.
