Pre-Summer 2004 Rankings: PGs

We start off our pre-summer rankings for the west coast class of 2004 with the point guards. It's a pretty solid class with already known names such as Gabe Pruitt, Quentin Thomas and Jordan Farmar, and others with enough talent to really have a chance to make names for themselves this July...

The point guard position is starting to shape up quite nicely, with several high-major prospects at the top and some fairly good depth. The top three guys are all very close, but we give a slight edge to Farmar, a very skilled playmaker who can shoot it and also has a great feel for the position. Farmar is the most polished of the guards on this list and should be ready to play early at UCLA. Thomas might have the best upside of any player at the position, with a great frame, very nice skills and excellent instincts. Pruitt had to sit out the last year due to some problems with the paperwork in his transfer to Westchester, but he's also only scratching the surface of his potential. He is a very good shooter, can finish at the rim and might end up being able to play either guard spot for USC. Kellogg is also a very versatile guard and could end up on our shooting guard list at some point. An explosive athlete, Kellogg might have as much pure talent as any guard on this list, but needs to refine his approach to the game. Littlejohn is an underrated prospect with excellent quickness and scoring ability. He has a very quick release on his shot and the ability to get inside defenses to create for teammates.
