Trip Report - Psalm Wooching

One player that Washington had really put a priority on the past few weeks is Kealakehe (Kailua Kona, Hi.) ATH Psalm Wooching and this weekend the talented prospect was on campus to take his official visit. Shortly after arriving in Seattle, he pulled Husky head coach Steve Sarkisian aside and told him he wanted to be a Dawg and he told Dawgman.com that was the favorite part of his visit...

"I got there on Friday and after I got to campus we took a tour of the campus and the facilities," Wooching told Dawgman.com shortly after returning home from his visit. "I had already decided, but I hadn't told coach Sark yet, so I pulled him aside and told him I wanted to be a Husky and when I did that he was all excited and ran out and told all of the staff that there was a new Dawg in the house.

"It was really exciting and something I'm happy I will have the chance to do."

Wooching's host on his trip was DE Hauoli Jamora and the two spent time getting to know each other while they also spent time with the rest of the recruits.

"I had never met him before, so it was great talking to him and getting to know him better," Wooching said. "We talked a lot about the program and where things are headed. He tore his ACL, so he's recovering from that and we talked about the injury and what he's doing to come back.

"We also got to spend a lot of time with the other players and recruits, so it was all just a lot of fun."

In addition to actually making his commitment to Washington, Wooching said he was also very impressed with what he saw at the Washington/Stanford basketball game.

"It was the first time I'd seen a college basketball game so it was pretty exciting," Wooching said. "The fans were in it from the very beginning, so that was really cool. They were chanting and barking and all that stuff. It was a great atmosphere."

Wooching also got to spend some time with Husky assistant coaches Joel Thomas and Johnny Nansen.

"When I was at the game, during a break, coach Thomas pulled me into his office and showed me some plays that he wants to use me in at running back and we talked about some drills and stuff I can do to get ready.

"They like me on offense and that's one thing that really separated them out of the pack for me, plus I really have liked Washington for a while now. It was something I wanted to do and it happened, so I'm just really excited."

We will have more from Wooching on Signing Day (February 1st( when he signs his letter-of-intent.
