Rolin planning a trip to Montlake

One of the top linebackers on Washington's recruiting radar this year is Briar Woods (Ashburn, Va.) LB Matt Rolin and with an offer from the Dawgs in hand, the talented prospect and his family are planning a trip west to check out Montlake and see what the Husky football program is all about...

"Coach (Peter) Sirmon is the coach recruiting me for them," Rolin told recently. "He was recruiting me for Tennessee and offered me for them and then all of the sudden he was at Washington and he offered me for them.

"It was kinda weird, but I have a good relationship with him and I'm interested in Washington now."

Rolin mentioned that he and his family are working on possibly setting up a trip west to see all that Montlake has to offer.

"I don't know much about the school right now, but that is why I'm planning on going out there for either in the spring or the summer," Rolin said. "I need to work out my schedule, but I'm definitely going to get out there at some point because I really want to see what their program is all about."

In addition to his offer from Washington, Rolin also has offers from Florida State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Boston College, Virginia, North Carolina State, Baylor and Connecticut and has several other schools looking his way.

Why are they so hot after Rolin?

First off it's his productivity (139 tackles and four interceptions), his durability (two-year starter) and his leadership (1st Team All-League, 1st Team All-District and All-State recognition) while helping to lead his team to two state titles.

"Most schools really haven't told me where they see me," Rolin said. "I feel comfortable playing inside or outside, but whatever I can do to help the team, I will do it."

As far as distance is concerned, Rolin did admit that it could play a factor, but it all depends on how he feels about his visit.

"I'd say it could be a problem, but if I go visit Washington and it feels like home, then that is the place that I'm going to end up," Rolin said. "But I also have to visit some other schools and that will be big for me this spring.

"I'll be looking at distance a little, but a lot will be how I feel about the coaches and the program and then the Business school because I want to major in Business when I get to whichever school I end up signing with."

We will have more from Rolin in the coming weeks as he gets closer to starting his unofficial visits and we will update news as it happens with him.
