Junior to watch - Parker Coffman

Parker Coffman is a 6-5, 292-pound defensive tackle for the Snohomish (Wash.) Panthers, and when it comes to front-4's, the Panthers have a pretty intimidating lineup. Between Coffman and teammate Mike Mayer, the two plan to cause a lot of havoc in the opposition's backfield this fall.

"I think teams are surprised by my quickness," Coffman told TheInsiders.com. "I think it catches them off-guard. And also my determination."

Parker will also be counted on for his leadership. "I feel like I'm a pretty natural leader," he said. "I've been taking the sophomores under my wing, helping them out. I'm a nice guy, but once we're out on the field it's game time."

Coffman had 11 sacks last year for Snohomish, and 17 total tackles. He's been getting letters from schools in the Pac-10 and the Ivy League, and has a clear favorite.

"Washington's my number one school," Parker said. "They are my number one choice. My Dad and Grandfather both are alumni there. Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to be a Panther. Now I want to play in Husky Stadium."

He attended the Huskies' junior day and it was all he imagined it would be. "I was very impressed," he said. "They have great facilities. It was phenomenal walking into their weight room and indoor facility. The upkeep is so great. It's like going to the Mariners' stadium (Safeco Field)."

Coffman also mentioned Oregon and Oregon State as two 'very good programs' he's interested in. He has no offers at this time.
