Huskies have their eye on Cali QB prospect

Marin Catholic (Kentfield, Ca.) QB Jared Goff is a prospect who already has a few offers and the Huskies could be getting close to throwing their hat in the ring as well. Dawgman.com caught up with the talented signal-caller recently and he updated us on where things stand with several schools including Washington...

"Coach (Tosh) Lupoi is the one recruiting me for them right now and he's the main one I've talked to from Washington," Goff told Dawgman.com recently. "I've got an offer from Washington State and I'm planning to go up there for a visit this spring and I'll probably add on a visit to Washington too because it's pretty easy to get to Seattle and then just go.

"I know Washington has a really great offense and I know it is a great school, but really that's all I know right now. I'm learning a lot more about them right now and I know it's a great school with a great staff and a the program is on the rise."

In addition to his interest from Washington and offer from Washington State, Goff also has offers from California and Boise State.

"Right now, things are great with my offers," Goff said. "It really is humbling to get offers from great programs like that and coaches who are great at developing quarterbacks.

"I'm blessed by it, but yeah, I'd like to get some more options before I start to narrow things down and I think more could be on the way, but right now I just have the three (offers)."

In addition to the Huskies, the three schools who have been showing Goff quite a bit of attention this winter have been Oregon, Oregon State and USC.

"I've been talking with Oregon State a lot lately and Oregon has started to pick up the interest in me too," Goff noted. "USC has been sorta talking to me a little too and then Washington as well."

As a junior last fall, Goff threw for 3,210 yards and 45 touchdowns and four interceptions, leading Marin Catholic to the CIF-NCS Finals.

He has a long, lanky frame, but a compact delivery and he said one of his best features is his vision down the field.

"I always keep my eyes up," Goff said. "I always keep my eyes down the field, even when I need to move aroud, and that really helps me keep plays alive.

"I have a pretty strong arm already and I'm working on adding more size this offseason. I'm 190 right now and my goal is to be about 200 or 205 when I start my senior season."

Speaking of that, Goff noted that he hopes to make his decision before the start of his senior season.

"I'm hoping to get out to a bunch of schools just to see what they all are like, meet with the coaches and see things firsthand," Goff said. "I definitely plan to make my decision before my senior season and I feel like this is my chance to educate myself on what each school has to offer."

We will have more on Goff in the coming weeks and months and will update news as it happens.
