Huskies continue to cast a wide net

Washington continues to offer the best prospects in the country, regardless of where they are located and with a recent offer to one of the top linemen in the Midwest, Plymouth Canton (Mi.) OL Cameron Dillard, the Huskies have now put themselves in a position to possibly get an unofficial visit this spring...

"I have 19 offers right now," Dillard told "Washington just officially offered me this week which is exciting. I have been talking to coach Tosh Lupoi for a while now. He was recruiting me when he was at Cal and now that he's at Washington he's recruiting me too.

"It was sorta crazy to get an offer from out there on the West Coast. It's my second one actually. Oregon offered me pretty recently too.

"I like the fact I have so many options right now, but it's sorta been so fast, that it's hard to know what to do with it."

Because he hadn't thought too much about Washington until the offer came in, Dillard said he doesn't know very much about the history of the program or the Puget Sound region, but that is something he plans to change.

"After coach Lupoi started really recruiting me hard and now that I have the offer, I have been looking up stuff online about their program," Dillard said. "I hear it is a great area and really beautiful up there, but I really don't know that much, so I need to do more research."

As a two-year starter for Chiefs, Dillard has played all over the offensive line including right tackle and long-snapper, which he focused on last fall.

"Most schools like me at guard or center," Dillard said. "I feel like I run-block and pass-block well, but I'm probably a little better as a run-blocker because of my aggression.

"I love watching my opponent, in the third quarter, just breathing hard and you can see it in their eyes that they don't want to go up against you anymore. They are saying 'not again'. That is such a great feeling. You know you are wearing them down and I love that feeling."

As far as unofficial visits are concerned, Dillard said several schools have inquired about him making it out for their spring practices, including Washington, but at this point he is unsure which programs will get a visit.

"It's kinda up in the air right now," Dillard said. "Traveling is so expensive right now, I'm not real sure where I will visit or which schools I'll see, but Washington is a school I'm interested in seeing closer up. I'd love to get out there at some point. I'm just not sure when yet."

Dillard did mention he has started to figure out the criteria he will use for making his decision and that his plan is to get his commitment out of the way before the start of his senior season.
