UW to host Tex-Arlington in NIT

While the Washington Huskies didn't achieve one of their main objectives - getting into the NCAA Tournament - they did receive a pretty nice consolation prize in the form of an overall No. 1 seed in the 75th annual National Invitation Tournament Sunday evening.

The Huskies will host No. 8 seed Texas-Arlington Tuesday night at 7 pm PT at Alaska Airlines Arena. The game will be shown live on ESPNU.

The winner of that game will play the 4/5 winner between Northwestern and Akron. If Washington is able to win their first two games, there's a chance they could collide with Oregon, as the No. 3 seed Ducks host LSU Tuesday at 6:30 pm, and then play the 2/7 winner of Dayton and Iowa.

Two other Pac-12 teams made it into the tournament - Arizona and Stanford.

The NIT gives automatic selections to conference regular-season winners that weren't selected for the NCAA Tournament, and this year there were 11 automatic qualifiers - including Washington. This year, of the 32 teams, 25 of them won 20 or more wins.
