Mickens is getting work done

Washington got a big commitment late in the recruiting process from Dorsey (Los Angeles) WR Jaydon Mickens and the talented wideout spoke with Dawgman.com recently to update us on the process of getting qualified as well as his plans later this month...

"I'm heading up to Washington for their spring game," Mickens told Dawgman.com. "I've been talking to the coaches a lot about how things are going and also about what they want me to be doing to get ready for when I get up there."

Speaking of arriving in Seattle, during the recruiting process, it was learned that Mickens had some work to do academically to get qualified and that has been a big focus for him.

"I got my SAT back and I got the score I needed, so now it's just about maintaining my grades that I have now and I'll be fully-qualified," Mickens said. "I'm doing really well and I'm focused on what I need to do. I'm running track and I'm working out and I'm doing my schoolwork, so it's been busy, but it's going really well."

Mickens was a multi-purpose weapon for Dorsey this season, racking up 378 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground while hauling in 32 receptions for 558 yards and seven more scores.

He will be counted on to be a playmaker out of the slot for the Huskies when he arrives this summer and will also lend his talents to the kick and punt return teams.
