Huskies offer local lineman

Over the past couple of days, Lynnwood (Wa.) OL/DL Andrew Basham has seen his recruiting really take off. Yesterday he hauled in offers from Arizona State and Oregon State and that was followed today with an offer from the University of Washington...

"I got an offer from U-Dub," Basham told "That makes three for me now with ASU and OSU too."

Up until today, Basham hadn't even spoken to the Husky coaches, but one dropped by his school today, ostensibly to pick up his transcripts and speak to his coaches and then shortly thereafter they spoke on the phone.

"I got to talk to him for a little while and he said they were offering me a scholarship," Basham said. "They pretty much want me mostly on defense, but they could be looking at me on offense too."

At 6'4" and weighing in at just over 300 pounds, Basham is a very talented athlete with enough athleticism, agility and speed to be a real playmaker at the next level.

The only thing that can hold Basham back is his grades and he told he's working on a plan to get his academics in line.

"Me and my parents are scheduled to sit down with my school counselor tomorrow to go over things," Basham said. "I know I have some work to do, but with a plan I think I can get it done."

We will have more in the coming weeks and months as Basham continues to work his way through the recruiting process.
