Could UW be looking to offer Texas QB?

While Washington has been focused on two quarterbacks out west, make no mistake, they have turned their attention toward at least one signal-caller in the Lonestar State and caught up with Skyline (Dallas) QB Devante Kincade to see how things have progressed this spring and where the Huskies currently stand...

"Washington has been recruiting me for a little while now," Kincade told "Coach 'K' (Eric Kiesau) is the coach recruiting me and he said he really likes what I can do and he wants to offer me, but he said coach (Steve) Sarkisian is the one that hands out the offers and that they need to evaluate me a little bit more."

Kiesau was down in Dallas last week to watch Kincade work out and he said while Washington is a ways away from where he grew up and different culturally from Texas, he has no qualms about headed West if he feels they are the best fit for him.

"Distance isn't a big deal for me and I think it would actually be pretty cool (to get away from home)," Kincade said. "I have offers from all over and I'm considering all of them. Washington hasn't offered yet, but I know they have a great program there and their offense is explosive. They put up big numbers last year offensively and they just brought a bunch of new staff in there on defense."

As a junior this past fall, Kincade completed 186-of-263 passes for 3,270 yards and 37 touchdowns. He also rushed for 857 yards and 17 scores and earned All-District and All-State honors.

"Everyone wonders what type of a quarterback I am," Kincade said. "I don't get frustrated by it because I am a dual-threat guy, but I love sitting back in the pocket and getting the ball to my receivers, our playmakers, and then if things break down, I can get out and move."

Besides the heavy interest from Washington, Kincade has offers from Colorado, Illinois, Kansas State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon State and SMU and is getting a long look by LSU, Oregon and Texas Tech among others.

Kincade said he is unsure on when he will make a decision, but noted that he plans to take his official visits and that Washington is a school getting consideration.

"I won't get up there for an unofficial, so if I'm going to see them it will be on an official visit," Kincade noted. "I'm really just enjoying the process and Washington is in that process right now. Coach 'K' seems really cool and I think they offense is a good fit for me. We'll see what happens and if they offer, for sure they'll be in it, but right now, without an offer, I'm not really sure how far it will go with them."

We will have more from Kincade in the near future as he starts to narrow things down a little.
