Huskies are high on Blakley's list

While Washington begins preparations for the 2012 football season, they played host to one of the top 2014 recruits in the region when Coeur d'Alene (Id.) TE Chase Blakley decided to take an unofficial visit to catch practice and take a tour of the campus. Dawgman.com caught up with the talented prospect shortly after he returned home and he gave us his thoughts on what he saw...

"It was a good time," Blakley told Dawgman.com. "I had been there before, but I hadn't really gotten a campus tour yet, so I went to practice and spent some time with the coaches and then I got a tour.

"Overall it was a really good visit and Washington is one of my favorites."

The Huskies offered Blakley after an impressive performance at their Rising Stars camp at the end of June and that has the talented prospect looking Washington's way.

"I like the coaches a lot," Blakley said. "They want me at tight end and I like the way they use their tight ends."

In addition to his offer from Washington, Blakley also has offers from Idaho and Eastern Washington and he's getting a lot of attention from Boise State and Washington State as well.

"I went to both of their camps and they are showing me some interest, but I'm just talking to them right now," Blakley said. "I haven't even played varsity yet, so a lot of teams don't know that much about me yet. With Washington, they offered me without seeing me play varsity ball yet and that means a lot. It means they like what I can do, my potential and the fact that I did well at their camp too."

Blakley and his teammates will begin practices this week in preparation for the start of the 2012 football season and that will be our first chance to get a look at what Blakley can do against varsity competition.

We will have more from him once the season gets underway and we will update news as it happens with him.
