Newby still looking at setting up visits

One of the top un-committed running backs left on Washington's recruiting board is Chaminade Prep (West Hills, Ca.) RB Terrell Newby and recently, the talented back hosted a Husky coach for an in-home visit. got the scoop on where things stand with both Washington as well as how close he is to setting up his final four visits...

"Coach (Joel) Thomas was here for a visit a week ago," Newby told "It was great to sit down and talk to him. He met my parents and we ate some dinner. It was a good time to just get to know each other better and maybe in a little different setting because I'm not on campus and we aren't at a camp or anything."

In addition to his in-home with Washington, Newby and his family have also met with California and Nebraska and "I'll have the Husky coaches in my house again, I think next week, and I'll also be hosting some other schools as well."

Those schools include Oregon and UCLA who round out his top five.

"Those are my top five and I still need to schedule visits to the other four (he visited Nebraska in September)," Newby noted. "Washington wasnts me to come up in January, so we're trying to figure out that weekend and which one I'm going to visit them on and I'll probably visit at least one school before the dead period (December 17th - January 6th), but I haven't decided which one that will be."

As a senior, Newby rushed for 2,129 yards and 43 touchdown while leading Eagles to a 12-2 record and a deep run in the playoffs (they lost to Serra last week 30-28).

"I had a great year individually, but this isn't an individual sport," Newby admitted. "I would have traded my stats for a state title, but we didn't get it.

"Even though we lost, these guys are like my brothers. I love them all and we really came together and had a great season overall, even though it ended earlier than we had planned."

Newby said he won't be making a decision until very late in the process, likey the week before National Signing Day which is on February 6th.

We will continue to keep tabs on Newby in the coming weeks and will update news as it happens with him.
