Under-the-radar OL visiting UW this weekend

It's pretty amazing that a player the caliber of Loyola (Los Angeles, Ca.) OL Coleman Shelton can go unnoticed by one of the recruiting services in 2013, but that's exactly the case with the big and athletic tackle prospect. Dawgman.com got the scoop on his recruitment as well as his interest level in the Dawgs...

"I'm visiting Washington this weekend," Shelton told Dawgman.com earlier this week. "They've been recruiting me pretty hard, pretty much since the end of my season and they offered me a trip up there to see the school and to come meet with them.

"Coach (Steve) Sarkisian and (Dan) Cozzetto came to my house for an in-home visit and we firmed up my visit. They said there's a good chance I'll get an offer when I'm there."

In addition to his heavy interest from the Huskies and possible offer, Shelton has offers from Colorado, New Mexico State, Nevada, UC Davis, Northern Arizona and Cal-Poly and has seen things heat up with Cal as well.

"I've had all those offers since my season started or I got them as my season was going," Shelton said. "I guess a lot of schools just didn't get to see much of me since I didn't really go to any camps except USC's Rising Stars camp.

"My coaches tried to get my name out there, but after a while, it was too late."

A three-year starter at school that has produced plenty of D-1 talent over the years, Shelton said it hasn't bothered him as he knew he would find the right place to call home.

One of the aspects of his game that intrigues the Husky coaches is his feet and hard-nosed attitude.

"Coach Cozzetto said he loved my feet and my athleticism," Shelton said. "I feel I play with a chip on my shoulder and that has helped me be successful."

Shelton and his parents will be in Seattle this weekend and after returning home from his visit, he will make his decision.
