UW snags Shelton on his visit

As we noted on Friday morning, Loyola (Los Angeles, Ca.) OL Coleman Shelton has flown under-the-radar during the 2013 recruiting cycle, but he blew up after the completion of his senior season and this weekend he took a visit to Washington and came away with an offer and also made the decision to add his name to the Husky commitment list...

"I got offered (Saturday) and I committed," a happy Shelton told Dawgman.com as he waited at the airport for his flight home. "Coach (Steve) Sarkisian sat down with me in his office on Saturday and he offered me there and I just told him I wanted to commit.

"He was really excited and happy that I committed. My parents were with me and they were really excited and happy for me too."

Shelton's host on his trip was freshman offensive lineman Jake Eldrenkamp.

"We had a great time," Shelton said. "I'd say it all was great, but if I had to choose one aspect it was the new stadium and getting to see it. It's going to be a great facility. They are doing a great job with it and I get to play in it my whole time there."

Shelton chose Washington over offers from Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico State as well as some FCS programs and he was getting heavy interest from schools like Cal as well.

"Coach (Steve) Sarkisian and (Dan) Cozzetto came to my house for an in-home visit last Sunday and coach ozzetto said he loved my feet and my athleticism," Shelton said. "I feel I play with a chip on my shoulder and that has helped me be successful."

Shelton has a great frame and he has the feet and athleticism to be a tackle at the next level and he said that is where Washington projects him once he steps on campus this summer.
