Hill enjoys trip to UW, talks recruiting

Timberline (Boise, Id.) LB/DE Don Hill was in Seattle this past weekend to take in some of Washington's spring practices and came away impressed and with an offer from the Huskies. Dawgman.com caught up with the impressive looking prospect and got an update on where things stand in the recruiting process...

"It was a great visit there," Hill told Dawgman.com recently. "I really had a great time and enjoyed every bit of it. While I was there, coach (Steve) Sarkisian came over during practice and offered me. I was just in awe that I got an offer from them.

"I had sorta told someone in my family that I was really interested in Washington and a family friend of ours played football up in Canada with Keith Heyward who is the DB coach there. I ended up getting a number for him and started talking to him and eventually it turned out I could come over for a visit and after spending some time there, coach Sark offered."

The offer from the Dawgs joins full rides from the likes of Washington State, Idaho, Boise State and Utah and he's been hearing from quite a few other schools out west.

"I've been talking to a lot of schools, but those are the ones I've got offers from," Hill said. "All of them like me as a hybrid defensive end/linebacker and that's what I play in high school, so it's good they all like me there."

Washington especially likes what Hill can do coming off the edge.

"Coach (Tosh) Lupoi was showing me different ways they use their guys and coach Sark and coach (Peter) Sirmon both said they like me as a hybrid guy," Hill said. "They said they are short guys there at the rush end spot, so they felt that, if I committed there, that I would be a great fit and they wanted me to know they wanted me there."

In addition to the good impression they made in their playing style and how the coaches do their jobs, the Huskies also impressed him with all of the other aspects of the school and program.

"The facilities are amazing and I got to go see the work they are doing on the stadium and it's going to be great," Hill said. "Their academics are also top-notch and that's something I'm definitely looking at as well."

While he's yet to name a favorite, he said he's hoping to make a decision earlier in the process although he's open to waiting if the need arises.

"I'd love to decide before my season, but it will probably go a little longer," Hill said. "Honestly, I'm not really sure at this point, but you know, it will probably be no later than by the end of my season. I'm not going to draw it out just for the sake of getting hype. I just want to make sure I make the right decision for me and if that comes early great, if not, then I can wait and take visits and make sure I have the right information before I commit."

As a sophomore, Hill posted 70 tackles and seven sacks and as a junior this past season he totaled nearly 80 tackles to go along with 10 sacks.
