Q&A - Chase Blakley

Dawgman.com spoke Wednesday night with Chase Blakley, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound tight end prospect from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Blakley filled us in on why he decided to verbally commit to the University of Washington Tuesday and how the Huskies plan on using him.

When exactly did you decide to commit? When did you get that feeling? Who helped you with deciding, or was it all yourself? - "I committed because the University of Washington is the best fit for me educational and football wise. I had the feeling for awhile and it just came down to when it was the right time. My Mom, Dad and I sat down a couple nights before and that's when we decided on the commitment."

What about UW convinced you that it was the right place for you? Were the players comforting? The coaches? What sold you? - "Just the school in general. You can't beat the location, the education, what they have to offer on campus and football wise. The players and coaches are definitely welcoming and they treat me very well whenever I'm there and make me feel at home."

When you visited Seattle and the UW campus, what did you like best about it? - "I liked the whole campus and that it's in the city of Seattle! It's awesome to have the chance to move into a city like it."

Do you see yourself looking around after this commitment? Or are you rock solid? - "This is a solid commitment!"

What position have the coaches recruited you at? Mainly tight end? Do you see yourself playing TE in college? - "They're recruiting me at tight end! The same position as Austin Seferian-Jenkins. I can see myself working into the position fine since I like blocking and love catching passes so it's perfect for me!"

When you told the coaches, what were their reactions? What have they said about what they like about you? - "The coaches were very excited. I think they saw it eventually coming! Coach Sark, (Justin) Wilcox and (Jordan) Paopao were the first ones I talked to and they were pumped up!"

What were your statistics from last year? - "51 receptions for 600 yards"

What is your current height and weight? - "6-foot-5 and 240 pounds."

What other offers do you currently hold? - "Idaho State, Idaho, Eastern Washington and Wyoming."

Where do you plan on taking your official visits? Or are you just taking one to Washington? - "I think I'm just going to take one to Washington. I haven't really thought that far yet!"

Will you be attending UW's Rising Stars Camp? Any other camps? - "I will be at the Rising Stars camp! I think it's going to be a great time and specially to see all the other recruits that'll be there and to get them to become Dawgs! I'll also be at the Northwest Elite and the Nike (Eugene) combine!"
