Shaw, Fortier Leave UW Program

The University of Washington Men's Basketball program announced Wednesday that two of their assistant coaches - Jim Shaw and Paul Fortier - have left the program to pursue other opportunities. The program has also hired a Strength and Conditioning Coach, Daniel Shapiro, who worked formerly with the Sacramento Kings.

Shaw and Fortier both have deep ties to the program. Shaw, from Chimacum, Wash., had been an assistant under Lorenzo Romar the past nine years, and Fortier - who played collegiately at Washington - spent seven years on the bench for the Huskies before taking the position of Director of Player Personnel and Player Development this past season.

Shapiro, a Seattle native, worked with the Kings the past eight years, including the last two with former UW guard Isaiah Thomas.
