May planning trip to the Northwest

A player just starting to pop up on recruiting radars is Napa (Ca.) ATH Quin May. He's got the size and athleticism schools are coveting this year and he told recently he plans to make a trip to the Northwest next week in order to check out two schools that he is very interested in...

"I don't have any offers yet, but I have been talking to a few schools," May told "I went out to Nevada to go to camp there and I've gone to Colorado's camp too. I've also been talking to Sacramento State, Washington State and California a little bit too.

"I'm going to make a trip up to Washington on the 27th and then on the 28th and 29th, I'm going to head down to Oregon to check them out and then on the 30th, I'll be back up in Seattle for one more day and then I'll come back home."

May was a two-way star for the Indians last season, earning Honorable Mention All-League honors on both sides of the ball while totaling over 80 tackles and seven sacks on defense to go along with 40 receptions for nearly 500 yards on offense.

"Most schools like me as an athlete and say that they could see me on either side of the ball, but Nevada, when I camped there, I talked to the head coach (Brian Polian) and he said he sees me on defense because he likes the way I can rush the quarterback and my speed to the ball," May noted. "I think on offense, my best attribute is my hands and how I can catch the ball. On defense it's my speed off the line and my instincts."

He's still waiting on that first offer and said he's in no rush to make a decision should he start to see a few roll in.

"I really like both Washington and Oregon, but if I have a few offers before August, I'll start setting up my official visits and then take them either during the season or after and I'll make my decision after that," May said. "A big thing for me will be the relationships I have with the coaches and seeing the schools. I'm open to everyone and as I start to get closer to making a decision, that's when I'll start to focus on who I have the best relationships with and go from there."
