Dickerson talks visit to UW, future plans

It's no secret that the Huskies have Junipero Serra (San Mateo, Ca.) DE Matt Dickerson as one of the top prospects on the list and this past weekend the versatile defensive lineman spent three days at Washington, participating in their Rising Stars Camp and meeting with the coaches. Dawgman.com caught up with him and got his thoughts on the visit and his plans over the next few weeks...

"I've already been there once before, but man, it was great up there," Dickerson told Dawgman.com. "I had a great time and I loved taking part in the camp and seeing the stadium again. It's an amazing facility and it's going to be crazy in there when they get it done because it's going to be so loud, you won't be able to hear anything."

Dickerson said the highlight of the trip was just working under Tosh Lupoi who would be his position coach should he decide to sign with the Dawgs.

"Coach Lupoi just gets after it and he's really fun to learn from and work for," Dickerson said. "I definitely feel comfortable at Washington and I'd feel right at home there if I chose to go there, but I'm still going to take visits and see other schools, just to compare what (Washington) offers and what the other schools offer."

Other schools on Dickerson's visit itinerary include Arkansas, Nebraska and possibly Notre Dame.

"I'm sorta working out my schedule and just making sure I can fit it all in, but I really want to get out and see those programs and those schools," Dickerson said.

Dickerson also said that he plans to officially visit "at least three schools" this fall/winter and that Washington is definitely in line for a visit.

"They were my first offer and I really feel comfortable there," Dickerson said. "I'm still open to everyone and I really don't have a favorite, but Washington is definitely in line to get one of my (official) visits."

At 6'5" and weighing in at 265 pounds, Dickerson has the size and length Washington is looking for in its defensive line targets. He also is versatile enough to play inside in certain situations and could easily weigh 280 pounds by the time he gets to campus next summer.

As a junior, Dickerson posted over 50 tackles and four sacks from his defensive end spot.
