Richard enjoys his trip to see UW/BSU game

One of the top running backs on Washington's recruiting list is Palmdale (Ca.) RB Demario Richard and the talented runner was in town over the weekend to experience Husky gameday firsthand. To say he came away impressed would be an understatement as he called the Husky fanbase "the SEC of the West"...

"It was pretty impressive," Richard told as he prepared to board a flight back to California. "They won of course, so that always makes things better, but the atmosphere there was pretty amazing and their fans, man, they came and did their job. Their fanbase and really the whole gameday experience there was like the SEC of the West."

Richard's cousin is former Husky wide receiver D'Andre Goodwin and the current grad assistant spent some time with his relative while he was in town.

"He and I spent time together, but I also got to hang out with the players which was really fun too," Richard said.

As far as the Huskies' performance on the field, Richard said he feels their offense fits him perfectly and he liked what he saw from not only Bishop Sankey but the rest of the tailbacks as well.

"They use their tailbacks the exact same way my team uses me, so if I were to commit to Washington, I know it would be a pretty easy transition for me just because I know the offense they run pretty well," Richard noted.

As far as recruiting is concerned, Richard said that Washington and Arizona State remain his top two schools and that he doesn't plan to take any more unofficial visits during the season.

"I'll just take official visits the rest of the way," Richard said. "Washington, Arizona State, West Virginia, Tennessee and Michigan State are the schools that I'm looking to take officials to."

Richard and his Palmdale teammates got their season off to a solid start with a 42-7 win over Burroughs High School. The senior runner had 151 yards and three touchdown on just 15 carries in the win.
