Dawgman.com Predictions

Washington returns home after a not pretty but effective road win in Chicago. The Huskies are 2-0 and ranked in the top 20 in the country. Now they face Idaho State, also 2-0 but obviously a different level of competition. How will the Dawgs respond to being 50-point favorites? Here is what the staff thinks.

Kim Grinolds – CEO: This could get ugly fast. Real fast. Washington will run their up tempo, and when Idaho State gets the ball back after the score.....they'll run up temp as well. Up tempo isn't hard to defend for three plays. Washington will have 40+ points at the half and call off the Dawgs in the second half.

Prediction: Washington 62, Idaho State 10
Chris Fetters – Editor In Chief: This one isn't going to be pretty - no one expects it to be. But Washington will do what they need to do in order to take that next step forward in preparation for Pac-12 play. It's good that Idaho State plays fast; that will only help the Huskies. A shutout could happen, but I suspect the Bengals will get a play or two in that no-tempo attack. Offensively, I just don't see how UW will be stopped unless they stop themselves.

Prediction: Washington 52, Idaho State 10
Scott Eklund – Recruiting Editor: Not hard to pick this one. UW should have this one wrapped up by halftime and the expectation is that the second and third teams will get a lot of playing time and reps in the second half. Heck, that's why you play these games.

Prediction: Washington 70, Idaho State 7
Jay Torrell – Sports Washington Creative Director: If the Huskies play anywhere near Chicago again I've got two words for you...GO! Maybe the only regret I have in my life is not spending a portion of my 20's in that city. Great town. Great people. Great game. Big fun. The Idaho State game comes at the absolutely perfect time for the Dawgs as they need to iron out their transition into an up-tempo offense. I feel bad for the Bengals because the UW coaches will be seeing this game as a way to get things right instead of just resting the starters before the Pac-12 season begins. Sankey goes for 200+, Price plays 3 quarters, ASJ tries to catch a breath, defense creates 4+ turnovers and everyone gets home in time to watch the first meaningful Pac-12 game of the season - ASU@Stanford.

Prediction: UW 52, Idaho State of Shock 10
Pat Thrapp – Statistics Coordinator: Well 1st off I am fairly certain we will win. Boy all hell will break loose if we don't. Not even going to go there. I saw a 40+ spread. When was the last time we were favored by 40+ points. I am hoping that we get to play a lot of the bench. It is games like these that the 2nd & 3rd string guys get some needed playing time and experience. It might just very well come in handy later in the season. I mean what can I say. We should crush these guys. With that said. How about a shout out to Sankey. At the top of the leader board for rushing. DAMN we have got to like that.

Prediction: Washington 45, Idaho State 6
Andrew Dore – Intern Emeritus: This week, the Idaho State Bengals are a heavy underdog against the Huskies. I was a bit overzealous picking the Dawgs by 28 last week on the road against a far better opponent. I see this game being over by halftime. Get ready to see the backups pick up some experience in this blowout.

Prediction: UW 52, Idaho State 6
David Samek – The Dawgman: Washington is 2-0 and feeling good about themselves. Now they get Idaho State at home, which is a laugher. Look for Sankey to be over 100 by halftime and then turn over the reins to Jesse Callier, last week's shining star. Price will throw 30 times and complete 25 of them in a huge day. Washington goes up and down the rainy field and on defense, the Huskies continue to impress by keeping the Bengals out of the end zone. Washington moves to 3-0 and up another spot in the polls before Arizona visits next weekend.

Prediction: Washington 63, Idaho State 6
Rick Samek - The Dawgman's Brother (Not to be confused with the Wolfman's Brother) who will be covering the game Saturday with the crew: I don't think Washington will Beav this one (remember OSU was a 40-some point favorite over fellow Big Sky brethren Eastern Washington), though the weather could bring some interesting moments. While we'd all love to see the scoreboard scream for mercy, I'm thinking something like 45-7 will be the number. To get that 50 or 60 point win will require turnovers, three-and-outs, and a good return game – something the Dawgs haven't exactly maximized so far. Until they do I'll keep this one under the spread.

Prediction: Washington 45, Idaho State 7
