Huskies Are First Offer For Rising 2015 DE

While the 2014 recruiting class is still in the midst of being pieced together, the Washington coaching staff has been hard at work forming relationships and extending offers to kids who will sign in 2015. On that caught their eye with his size and productivity is Milpitas (Ca.) DE Jason Scrempos and he told the Huskies were the first to extend an offer his way...

"Right now, Washington is my only offer, but I have some other schools looking at me too," Scrempos told

Scrempos popped up on recruiting radars after a huge sophomore campaign where he posted 83 tackles and 10 sacks and he's followed that up with 85 stops and 10 sacks as his team gets their post-season started this weekend.

"I just like rushing the quarterback," Scrempos admitted. "I mean, I like playing on either side (of the ball), but it's much more fun to hit a guy than to be hit, so defense is where I prefer to play."

At a legit 6'6" and tipping the scales now at over 250 pounds, Scrempos is exactly what Washington is looking for along their defensive line.

"Coach (Tosh) Lupoi is the one recruiting me for Washington," Scrempos said. "We've formed a good relationship and I like him a lot."

It's beyond early for Scrempos in the recruiting process, but he said the offer from the Huskies is important.

"They are my first offer. They will be one of my favorites until I decide because they believed in me before anyone else did," Scrempos said. "Also, I like what Washington has going on. I have never been there before, but I'm thinking of going up there for a Junior Day or for some of their spring practices. I want to see the school and see the area where it is and also meet with the coaches in person."

Milpitas (8-2) will host their first round playoff game against Homestead (Cupertino, CA) (8-1) this Friday.
