Trip Report - Dante Pettis

Junipero Serra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Ca.) WR Dante Pettis was in Seattle to take in the first official visit weekend of the Chris Petersen era. He came away impressed with what he saw, but also noted he still plans to visit one other school before he makes his decision...

"Oh man, I had a great time. It was a lot of fun up seeing the campus and the stadium and the area. I loved the city a lot," Pettis told as he awaited his flight back to California. "I loved meeting with the coaches and spending a lot of time with the players. It's good to get to know them since they will be the guys you spend a majority of your time with once you sign with a school."

John Ross played host to Pettis and so the thought might be he was being recruited for the same role - wide receiver/defensive back, but he said that wasn't the case.

"No, I'm a wideout," Pettis said with a chuckle. "Their offense fits me perfectly, so I think it would be a good fit."

This coming weekend, the talented wideout plans to take a trip to Boise State and said after that he will wait for the luster of his visits to wear off and then hopes to make a decision before the end of the month.

"I just want to find the right spot for me," Pettis noted. "If that's at Boise State, then I will wind up there. If that's at U-Dub, then I will commit there.

"The (Husky) coaches didn't pressure me at all and said they understood I had to do what I had to do. They said they want me though and that they think I would fit in there perfectly."

Pettis said he does not want to take his decision all the way until Signing Day (February 5th), but will not rush his decision either.
