All-In-One: 1/20 Trip Reports

With this past weekend being the first time the new Washington coaching staff had a substantial number of 2014 prospects on campus, the guys at Dawgman and Scout put together a number of trip reports on the prospects in question. Below is a list of all of them, as well as links where you can join in on the discussions.

Gaines Picks the Huskies (Brandon Huffman) - La Habra (Calif.) defensive tackle Greg Gaines had been a longtime commit to Boise State. But once Chris Petersen and his staff left for Washington, Gaines opened up his recruitment. Petersen and the Husky staff recruited him to Washington and had him in Seattle this past weekend for an official visit. And after the trip, Gaines told the familiar coaching faces he wanted to play for them. Even if he told one of the coaches on Saturday.

Trip Report - Tristan Vizcaino (Scott Eklund) - Damien (La Verne, Ca.) K Tristan Vizcaino has been committed to Washington State since the summer, but over the weekend, he was in Seattle to take a visit to Washington. Where do things stand as far as his commitment to the Cougars is concerned? "I had a really great visit up there," Vizcaino told shortly after returning home. "I was supposed to visit back on December 6th, but then coach (Steve) Sarkisian left and it sorta all fell off and I didn't know what was up. Then, up until recently, I hadn't talked to the new staff, but then two weeks ago, I got a call from coach (Jeff) Choate and he said he was the new special teams coach and that he really liked what I could do."

Trip Report - Dante Pettis (Scott Eklund) - Junipero Serra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Ca.) WR Dante Pettis was in Seattle to take in the first official visit weekend of the Chris Petersen era. He came away impressed with what he saw, but also noted he still plans to visit one other school before he makes his decision. "Oh man, I had a great time. It was a lot of fun up seeing the campus and the stadium and the area. I loved the city a lot," Pettis told as he awaited his flight back to California. "I loved meeting with the coaches and spending a lot of time with the players. It's good to get to know them since they will be the guys you spend a majority of your time with once you sign with a school."

Trip Report - Jesse Sosebee (Scott Eklund) - The Huskies are definitely in the market for some offensive linemen this year. They already have two committed and this weekend they played host to a third as Edison (Huntington Beach, Ca.) OT Jesse Sosebee, a Boise State commit, was on campus. Where do things stand with the big man from Southern California? "It was a great time up there," Sosebee told "The coaches were great, obviously, because I already knew them from when I committed to them when they were at Boise State and the facilities are amazing there. Trip Report - K.J. Carta-Samuels (Greg Biggins) - San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels took a weekend visit to Washington and said he loved his time in Seattle. Carta-Samuels de-committed last week from Vanderbilt and didn't waste any time hitting the recruiting trail hard. He set up an official visit to Washington over the weekend and said it was a great trip. "I had an awesome trip, it was a great visit," Carta-Samuels said. "The coaching staff really stood out to me. Spending time with those guys was probably the highpoint for me. They are awesome coaches and really good guys. Coach Petersen and Coach Smith, the OC, we spent a lot of time together and I learned a lot about what they want to do and how they see me fitting in."

Trip Report - Jomon Dotson (Brandon Huffman) - American Canyon (Calif.) running back Jomon Dotson, a commit to Colorado, took a visit to Washington this weekend. Recruited by Boise State when Chris Petersen was there, the new staff at Washington continued to recruit him. "My trip went pretty good and it was nice," said Dotson. "I'm glad that I went. The new staff likes me as a running back, the old coaches liked me as a DB, so I'm still trying to weigh my options."
