Dotson had been committed to Colorado since October and took a visit to Boulder back in December. However, when Chris Petersen and his staff took over the reigns of the Husky football program, things picked up with him and he visited Montlake last weekend.
"After thinking about it, I just knew Washington was the right fit and place for me," Dotson told Dawgman.com. "I liked the academic programs they have there and their facility is top-notch."
When asked about the Husky coaches' reaction when he told them, Dotson said "coach Petersen was really happy and he told coach (Keith) Bhonapha and they were really excited."
Dotson is the 15th commitment to Washington and the 10th since Petersen took over in early December.
He chose Washington over offers from the Buffaloes as well as Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Iowa State, Nevada, Northwestern, San Jose State, UC Davis and Yale.
