Jenkins Enjoys Visit To UW

Lakes (Lakewood, Wa.) ATH Kemonee Jenkins is a rising athlete in the Evergreen State. He's seen his stock rise in recent months and updated Dawgman.com on where things stand on the recruiting front and how his visit to Washington for the Huskies' Junior Day went this past weekend...

"Things have been going good," Jenkins told Dawgman.com. "I've been hearing from a few schools, mostly Pac 12 schools, Colorado, Washington, schools like that, but I don't have any offers just yet."

As a junior last fall, Jenkins posted 261 yards rushing and two touchdowns and hauled in 18 receptions for nearly 200 yards on offense while posting 46 tackles and three interceptions from his cornerback position.

"Most schools like me as an athlete, but I prefer defense really," Jenkins admitted. "I just love to hit and that's what you get to do playing cornerback. You are also out there on an island and I like to feeling of being out there and competing against the other teams' best receiver."

Last weekend, Jenkins and teammate Benning Potoae made the 45-minute drive north to meet with the Husky coaches at Washington's Junior Day and he said he came away impressed.

"I'd never been up there before to see all of the facilities, so it was really the first time I'd seen something like that," Jenkins said. "It was pretty amazing all of the stuff they had. I really liked the training room and the locker room. They did a great job in there."

Jenkins said that when the Huskies broke into positional meeting groups he was told to head in with the corners.

"I met with coach (Jimmy) Lake and the rest of the guys and I got to talk to him a little afterwards," Jenkins said. "He just mainly talked about what he looks for from his guys, the ones he's really going after, and also what their overall philosophy is for the team. They are all about competing and making sure they do things the right way all the time. That was cool to hear."

As far as his future, Jenkins said he's eying some more visits to schools in the area and is hoping to hit several camps this spring and summer, but is unsure which ones those will be.
