Longson Talks UW Visit; Future Plans

As Washington concluded their spring practices, one player that took in one of the workouts and came away impressed was Dougherty Valley (San Ramon, Ca.) OT Keiffer Longson. Dawgman.com caught up with the talented line prospect and he updated us on where things stand with the Huskies as well as what the near future holds for him...

"I had a great trip up (to Seattle) last month," Longson told Dawgman.com. "It was a really beautiful place and I loved the campus and their practice was really intense and I love the way the coaches teach the players.

"I got to meet coach (Chris) Petersen and then I spent some time with coach (Chris) Strausser and he told me what he was looking for in a lineman he offers and what he's doing along the offensive line, so it was really informative and I really got a lot out of it."

Longson did not come away with an offer, but said the Husky coaches said they are evaluating him and could be close.

"They are going to come down and see me soon and I think that might be when they would offer if they decide to, but at this point I am not really sure if it will happen or not," Longson noted.

While he's still waiting on an offer from the Dawgs, Longson does sport full rides from the likes of Arizona State, Colorado, Florida State, Missouri, Ohio State, San Jose State, Utah, Utah State and Washington State and he's got several other programs who like him, but have yet to offer.

"A bunch of schools said they are still making their evaluations and they are close, but none have really said they were definitely going to offer," Longson said. "I'm definitely planning to visit some schools for their camps, definitely UCLA and USC, and the rest I still have to sorta figure out, but Washington is definitely in there and I think I might visit there for their camp. I just have to work out my schedule."
