Huskies Target Baccellia

The Huskies are in the market for at least a couple wide receivers in the 2015 recruiting class and one that they have targeted is Westlake (Westlake Village, Ca.) WR Andre Baccellia. The talented speedster put up some big numbers this past fall and he said that Huskies are definitely a school that has made an early impression on him...

"I've known about (Washington) for a little while," Baccellia told recently. "I have been watching their games the past couple of years and I really like their style of play and I love their uniforms.

"They have definitely been a program on the rise and now with coach (Chris) Petersen there, I think they have some big things in their future."

The Huskies were the first school to extend an offer Baccellia's way, but recently Colorado and Duke have come in with full rides and more could be on the way soon.

"I've talked to a lot of schools, but the ones that seem like they are more interested are Arizona State, Fresno State, USC and San Diego State," Baccellia noted.

As a junior this past fall, Baccellia put up some big numbers, hauling in 46 receptions for 954 yards and eight scores.

"I think my biggest assets are my speed and my explosiveness," Baccellia said. "I haven't run an electronic 40 yet, but my coaches hand-timed me at 4.44 and, honestly, I think I play faster than that.

"I'm really quick out of my breaks, that's something that I have worked on all my life, and I have good hands."

While he already possesses a lot of traits that make for a solid wide receiver prospect, he mentioned that he's not forgetting to work on anything this offseason.

"I always believe that you can never be satisfied with where you are and you always have to work on getting better, no matter how good you already are," Baccellia said. "I'm working on everything -- my route-running, my speed, my quickness, my footwork, my hands -- and I want to end my high school career on a high note and help us get a championship."

Baccellia noted that he plans to take his time and go through the recruiting process and that he is hoping to map out his schedule for camps and hopes to firm his itinerary up in the next week or so.
