Late last week, the Husky coaching staff decided to extend an offer to Cathedral (Los Angeles, Ca.) CB Cameron Ha ney.
"It was big hearing from Washington," Haney told Dawgman.com. "It wasn't expected, so when I heard from them I was excited.
"(DB coach Jimmy Lake) saw me in practice then at a passing league then we started talking a little me. He seems like a good guy from the conversations we had."
The Huskies were the third program to offer the rising defensive back prospect, joining the two offers he already had in the books from Nevada and Washington State.
In addition to the interest from those three schools, Haney said he's got a plethora of other coaching staffs on the hook as well.
"Basically, Arizona, Wisconson, Arizona State, UCLA, Oregon and Oregon State all seem close to offering, but they haven't yet," Haney noted.
As far as his itinerary this summer, Haney said he hasn't firmed up any plans to head to Seattle, but that is definitely a trip he plans to make.
"I'm planning on going up there to check (UW) out this summer," Haney said. "I just have to plan it out with my parents an then we will go from there.
"My parents are planning on coming up too, but I'm not sure if both will come or not. I know at least one will be with me, but there's a good chance both will be with me."
As a junior this past season, Haney wasn't thrown at much, but he still managed to post 23 tackles, one sack, one tackle-for-loss and five passes defensed on defense while rushing for 289 yards and five scores and hauling in three receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown on offense.
