Cali LB Excited By Offer From UW

News of offers being extended by the Huskies has started to leak out over the past week after the UW coaching staff held several satellite camps down in California. One player who received an offer after a stellar performance was Bishop Amat (La Puente, Ca.) LB Anthony Camargo and he told recently that the offer is a big one...

"(The Huskies) offered me (on Monday) after I went to their camp at (the University of) Redlands on June 12th," Carmargo told "It was awesome. I had a good time meeting all of the coaches and had fun being coached by coach (Bob) Gregory."

Camargo measures in at just over 6'2" and weighs close to 220 pounds. He has the instincts and athleticism to play all three of the linebacker spots, but he said Washington has told him they see him playing inside.

As far as other offers, Camargo has 10.

"I have offers from Dartmouth, Brown, Penn, Yale, Villanova, Utah State, Nevada, Fresno State, Washington State and Boise State and now Washington," Camargo noted. "I have some great offers, but the one from Washington puts them definitely up towards the top."

Camargo is planning to take in Stanford's camp this Thursday and said he's hoping to take some other unofficial visits to schools, including Washington, but he hasn't set anything up at this point.

"My parents and I are going to talk to coach Petersen soon to see if we can work something out," Camargo said. "As of right now, we haven't planned anything."

As a junior this past season, Camargo totaled 72 tackles and a sack for his team.

We will have more on Camargo over the next few months and we will update news on him as it happens.
