DawgmanTV: Myles Gaskin Talks UW

RENTON - Dawgman.com’s Chris Fetters spoke Sunday with Myles Gaskin, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back from O’Dea High School at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center as part of USA Football’s inaugural high school football Media Day. Gaskin, who has been verbally committed to UW since early March, talked about his commitment, his relationship with the Husky coaches, and his goals for this fall.

Selected Quotes:
What’s new? - “Just staying strong with U-Dub and just trying to win a state championship, to be absolutely honest - trying to just focus on finishing my senior year, trying to make a dream come true, win a state championship and just finish out strong grades-wise and just go on to the next level and do what I have to do.”

Height and Weight? Getting bigger and stronger? - “5-9 still. I want to say I’m 190 (pounds), but I’m pretty much the same weight. I’ve gotten a lot quicker because I’ve been working on power cleans and a lot of ladder drills, lot of footwork drills - that’s about it. Just trying to get bigger, faster, stronger every day.”

Where are you at speed-wise? - “I missed the track season due to injury but then outside of that I think I’ve gotten a lot faster.”

Any personal goals? - “Not really. Everything is about team, trying to win a state. That’s basically the main goal.”

How much have you kept in touch with UW? - “I talk to Coach B (Keith Bhonapha) about twice a week. Coach B is the running backs coach. We’ve got a really good relationship. It’s like I’m already there, really - in my heart. Just finish out this year and I’m there.”

Have you figured out when you’ll take your official visit? - “Nah, not really…just after the football season.”
