McClatcher Happy To Wait The Process Out

As he and his team prepare for the start of the 2014 football season, Federal Way (Wa.) ATH Chico McClatcher told Dawman.com he's more than happy to show patience in the recruiting process...

Things have been a bit on the slow front for McClatcher who currently holds offers from the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Oregon State, Portland State, UCLA, Utah, Washington and Washington State.

"I only did a couple of camps around the Seattle area. Financially, I just couldn't get out to a bunch of school camps, so I just stayed local," McClatcher noted. "I've also sorta taken a break from all of the recruiting stuff, but I'll start calling coaches soon and I'll start setting up my official visits."

While McClatcher was unwilling to list his leaders, he did say that Washington would definitely be a school he takes a visit to this month to watch their fall practices and he also plans to take an official visit when he begins scheduling them.

"Coach (Chris) Petersen is going to do well there," McClatcher said. "I've always liked (the Huskies) and the staff there is top-notch, so they should do really well."

As a multi-purpose player, McClatcher is a threat with the ball in his hands.

As a junior this past fall he totaled over 2,000 yards of offense (rushing, receiving and returning). He's also a standout on the Eagles' defense, turning in over 50 tackles and four picks from his cornerback spot.

"I'm really excited about this season, but it's weird to think it's my senior year," McClatcher said. "I've really enjoyed it, but it's gone by too fast. I want to get to a championship game and I think we have the team to do it, but we have to get it done on the field. We can't just talk about it, we have to do it."

McClatcher and his teammates report to camp on August 20th and kick off their season on September 6th against Union (Vancouver, Wa.) at home.
