Visit To Seattle Affirms Neal's Commitment

After his junior campaign was completed, not many people knew about Etiwanda (Ca.) WR Mike Neal. However, after camping with the Dawgs he received an offer and committed shortly thereafter, having never seen UW in person. Well, that all changed when he took a trip to Seattle earlier this week and he told that the visit only firmed up his decision to become a Dawg...

"I'm from a small town down here in California, so being up there, in the middle of the city and seeing that campus, it's just so big and amazing, I really, really loved it up there," Neal told "It was great to get up there and see where I'm going to play college ball. I loved it and had a great time."

While he was on campus, Neal met with the coaches and spent time getting to know some of his future teammates.

"I met with the coaches and talked with some of the players. Guys like Josh Perkins and one of the guys who is a freshman, Drew Sample, they both seemed like good guys," Neal said. "The visit was great and it only made me that much more certain about my decision (to commit)."

On the recruiting front, things were pretty much just getting started for Neal when he committed to the Huskies, the school he camped with in early June, and he said most schools didn't continue pursuing him after he made his decision.

"A few schools were after me, but none of them offered because I told them I was really happy that I committed to Washington," Neal said. "I think a few were scared off by that, but I know a few that will be out to see me play this fall and they could start offering after that because I didn't really do much last year, so they need to see me perform."

Neal and the rest of the Eagles have already been hard at work on the football field this week and they begin their season with a game against Summit (Fontana, Ca.) on August 29th.
