Trip Report - Dedrick Young

Centennial (Peoria, Az.) LB Dedrick Young took an official visit to Washington this week and said he had a great time. Is he any closer to making his decision? Read on to find out...

"I had a great time," Young told "My mom and my sister came up with me and they had a really good time too."

Young's host on his trip was freshman DE Shane Bowman and the two spent some time getting to know each other and also seeing the campus and facilities.

"I'd say the best part was just being at the game and seeing the atmosphere there," Young said. "It was a good game. They played well. I had a lot of fun."

Young also spent time meeting with the coaches.

"They like me as a linebacker," Young said. "I've been up there before and I really like the school and the area. I already knew the coaches pretty well, but I got to know them better on this trip and I really wanted to see the game time atmosphere. It was really great so it was a great trip for me."

So while he was on his trip, did he come close to committing?

"No not really," Young said. "I am just going through the process and making sure I see what I need to see in order to choose a school."

The talented linebacker prospect, who has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan State, Nebraska, UCLA, California, Colorado, Colorado State, Nevada, Northwestern, Oregon State and Utah as well as Washington, will visit Nebraska in a couple of weeks and he's still open to figure out which other schools will get visits.

"I'm not really sure past (the Nebraska visit) what I'm going to do," Young said. "I've got time. I don't want to rush it."

We will have more from Young in the coming weeks as he continues his path toward making a decision.
