Thompson Named Defensive Player Of The Week

After his stellar performance versus Illinois this past weekend, including two turnover returns for touchdowns, Washington linebacker Shaq Thompson was named the Pac 12 Defensive Player of the Week...

Thompson, along with UCLA QB Jerry Neuheisel (offense) and UCLA DB Ishmael Adams (special teams).

Thompson, a junior, scored two defensive touchdowns -- one on an interception he returned 36 yards for a score and the other a 52-yard scoop and score of a fumble that was caused by Andrew Hudson.

Thompson also finished with four tackles while rushing for 16 yards on three carries on offense.

So far this season, Thompson has racked up 23 tackles (good for second on the team), one tackle-for-loss, one sack, one interception, two pass breakups, on fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
