Crespi (Encino, Ca.) LB D.J. Beavers - It's been a while since we've talked to Beavers (pictured above), but as of late this summer, shortly before the start of fall camp, he had Washington and Washington State as two schools that he knew he was going to visits. The Huskies and Cougars aren't the talented linebacker's only offers -- he has offers from California, Miami, Nebraska, San Diego State and Wisconsin -- and he's getting interest from several other schools. Beavers is an ideal fit as a WIL in Washington's scheme and with his frame, he looks like he could easily put on another 15 to 20 pounds and be a real playmaker from one of the outside linebacker spots.
Central Catholic (Portland, Or.) RB Cameron Scarlett - Scarlett named his top five relatively recently and the Huskies made the final cut along with Oregon, Notre Dame, Stanford and UCLA. Many believe that Stanford will ultimately be his college choice, but Scarlett has a great relationship with the Husky coaching staff and that at least has them in the hunt. This weekend will go a log way in helping UW stay in the running for the gifted tailback as he will get to see the way this staff uses their tailbacks and how committed they are to the run.
Cypress (Ca.) DB Quinten Pounds - Pounds is able to play both safety and corner, but it appears that the Huskies like him at the safety spot first. He recently visited Boise State, on of his top three, along with Washington and Cal and he will visit Montlake this weekend. The Huskies have really done a great job in recruiting Pounds and he seems to be favoring them although he hasn't come out and said as much at this point. We'll see what he has to say about things when he returns home, but this is a recruit the Huskies may wind up with sooner rather than later.
