Trip To UW Seals The Deal For Beavers

Washington received its 14th verbal commitment Sunday after when D.J. Beavers, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound outside linebacker prospect from Crespi Carmelite HS in Encino Calif., pledged his future to the Huskies after taking in an official visit to Montlake this past weekend...

"Officially committed to the university of Washington! Thanks to everyone who has gotten me and my career this far. #GoDawgs," was the way Beavers announced his decision via Twitters.

Beavers, along with his parents were on hand for Washington's win over Georgia State this weekend.

"Washington had been my number one school for a while now and once I got up there I just knew it was the right decision for me," Beavers told Dawgman.com. "I had already talked to my parents about it and they really liked the school too. I committed to coach (Chris) Petersen right before I left and he was really excited I was ready to come and be part of the program."

Beavers' host on his trip was freshman DL Shane Bowman and the two bonded pretty quickly.

"He's a cool dude. I had a great time with him," Beavers said. "He really loves it there and he just told me how great it was there.

"I really enjoyed the game and the atmosphere (in the stadium). It was a little shaky there for a while, but we all knew they just had to focus to get the win."

Beavers will wind up playing outside linebacker for the Huskies.

The talented linebacker chose the Dawgs over offers from California, Miami (FL), Nebraska, San Diego State, Washington State, and Wisconsin.
