Trip Report - Quinten Pounds

Cypress (Ca.) ATH Quinten Pounds took an official visit to Washington this weekend and came away impressed with what he saw. Is he close to committing or will he let the process play out? Read on to find out what he had to say...

"It was great. I loved it," Pounds told "The game atmosphere was great. The crowd was live and there were a lot or people there. It was an intense atmosphere.

"The fans were booing a little, but they were just showing their emotions and how into the game they were."

Pounds spent a lot of time with his host, freshman DB Jojo McIntosh, and he said the two got to know each other well.

"He's redshirting so we just talked a lot about things like why he chose Washington and what it's like being a player there," Pounds said. "He was committed to UCLA, I guess, but then when coach (Chris) Petersen and the rest of the staff came to Washington, he said he just wanted to be part of what they had going on there."

Pounds had never been to Seattle before, so he spent a lot of time seeing the city and the facilities up at UW.

"The facilities were great and I liked the area," Pounds said. "I'd say the most impressive thing for me was just meeting with the coaches.

"I talk to a lot of the coaches -- Coack 'K' (Pete Kwiatkowski), coach (Brent) Pease, coach Pete and coach (Jimmy) Lake -- so I know a lot of them pretty well, but it was a chance to talk to them more and get to just be in person with them."

Washington is recruiting Pounds as a corner, a wideout and a return man.

"Coach Lake and coach Pease have said they are going to be fighting over me if I were to go there. It's pretty cool to have them want you that much."

Pounds visited Boise State recently and he said the two visits he has taken are very similar in that he enjoyed both of them and they each had things that impressed him.

"They just are different, but I really had a great time at both of the visits," Pounds said. "I didn't think about committing to either school really. I am going to stick with my plans. I am visiting Colorado on October 3rd and I may visit Cal, but I'm not really sure if I will or not, and then I will make my announcement on October 29th which is the day before our rivalry game (vs. Kennedy of La Palma, Ca.)."

Pounds' team is currently 3-0 and they will take on Diamond Bar this coming Friday.
