Meeks Likes What He's Hearing From UW

The Huskies are in the market to find several corners to throw into the competition for playing time in the secondary next fall and one prospect they are heavily in the mix for is Del Norte (San Diego, Ca.) CB Quenton Meeks. caught up with the talented prospect recently and he updated us on where things stand as well as his thoughts on what Washington has to offer...

"Things have been going really well with recruiting," Meeks told "I'm still at 11 offers and more schools are coming after me.

"I already have visited California and I'm visiting Vanderbilt on (November) 29th, the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I'm going to schedule one with Washington soon.

"I'm probably visiting Washington in December, but I haven't set up the date yet."

As far as Washington is concerned, Meeks has been getting to know the coaches pretty well and said that he feels really comfortable with them.

"Coach (Jimmy) Lake, coach Pete (Chris Petersen) and coach 'K' (Pete Kwiatkowski) are the coaches that I talk to the most (from Washington)," Meeks said. "I really like them and feel comfortable with them. They talk a little about football, but they are even more focused on you as a person and how you do after football. That's really big for me and for my family.

"I know I could go to almost any school and I could be successful, but for a staff to show they care about you as a person, that's huge for me."

Meeks said he isn't close to making his decision, but he's also not planning to draw the process out until Signing Day (February 4th).

"I'm not going to rush into anything," Meeks not. I only get to do this once, so I'm going to take my time and be sure, but I'm also not going to let it go all the way just so I can have some big thing on Signing Day.

"When I know where I want to go, I'll make my decision and be done with it."

Del Norte, which is currently 5-5 on the season, will face Mt. Carmel (San Diego, CA) in the first round of the CIF San Diego Section Playoffs this coming Friday.
