In-State Four-Star Will Visit UW Last

One of the most highly-regarded players within the borders of the state of Washington that still has yet to make his college choice is Lakes (Lakewood, Wa.) DL Benning Potoae. Dawgman.com spoke with the talented prospect recently and he updated us on his first two official visits, his plans over the next few weeks as well as when he plans to visit the University of Washington...

"Things have been going really good," Potoae told Dawgman.com. "I'm just trying to focus on finding my home and where I want to play college football and just see what place fits me best."

Potoae his taken two official visits -- one to UCLA and one to Oregon State -- and he said that he had a great time on both visits.

"The UCLA one (November 21st) was great," Potoae said. "The atmosphere there was amazing. I really had a great time. They beat USC, their rivals, and everyone was just hyped and ready to go.

"I really enjoyed my trip to Oregon State this past weekend (November 28th). The coaches there are great and it's got that small-town feel. Everyone knows who you are there and the players, especially the Poly players, they said it's like a family there and that's really an important thing to me."

Potoae has been in constant contact with the Huskies over the past few months and said that head coach Chris Petersen made one request of him.

"He asked me to make sure that U-Dub was the last visit I take and that's what I'm planning to do," Potoae said. "These next two weeks, I am taking the SAT (12/6) and ACT (12/13), so I won't be visiting anyone, so that means my last three visits will be in January.

"The other schools I am looking at visiting right now are most likely going to be Arizona State, they have been on me for a while, and Washington State because my parents are really encouraging me to get over there and check out their program and school."

As far as Washington is concerned, Potoae said he wasn't able to see their game with their cross-state rivals, but he knows the outcome was definitely positive for the purple and gold.

"I heard they took it out on Wazzu," Potoae said with a bit of a chuckle. "I know they won by a lot and that they played really well.

"I've been to several of their games this year and I've seen how the players have been coached up and how much they have improved.

"Their program is on the rise. You can see and feel it. The coaches and the system they run fit me perfectly. They have laid out a great plan for me and what I would be doing there and I think that it would be a great place for me if I choose to go there, but I still want to see the schools that I'm looking at and make sure where I want to be.

"The Huskies have a great staff though and a great program. It would be great to play so close to home if things work out that way."

Potoae said he plans to start setting up his final three visits within the next couple of weeks and plans to host several coaches on in-home visits very soon as well.
