Trip Report - Jared Hilbers

The only Husky commit to take an official visit this weekend was Beaverton (Or.) OL Jard Hilbers. Because he's been to almost every Husky home game this season, nothing was a surprise to the talented lineman but he did come away with some information about where he'll start out his college football career...

"I sat down with coach (Chris) Strausser and he said they see me starting out inside at guard once I get up there," Hilbers told on Sunday afternoon. "I have no problem with it. I played tackle in high school, but I love to play so it's not that big of a deal where I start out at."

Hilbers' host was freshman offensive lineman Matt James and he got to spend a lot of time with the other offensive lineman as well.

"We just had fun," Hilbers said. "I got to know some of the other linemen and a couple of the other guys up there for their visits and I was working on them a little bit.

"Most of them said they were thinking about it, so I think they liked their visits."

Hilbers said one of the big things for him was seeing the coaches and players and how they interact with each other.

"I liked seeing the relationship between the coaches and the players," Hilbers said. "I know the players are really excited playing for the staff there and I think they are getting themselves back to where Washington wants to be -- on top of the conference."
