McClatcher Updates Recruiting

One of the more surprising stories that we've been following this year has been that of Federal Way (Wa.) ATH Chico McClatcher. The multi-talented prospect recently qualified and will be taking a visit to Washington this weekend...

"I did just recently get qualified," a relieved McClatcher told "I had to take the tests (SAT/ACT) to get qualified and I did that."

Since he entered high school, the multi-dimensional athlete has been one of the most-talked about prospects in the state and he currently sports offers from many schools across the west.

The two that have stuck out are Washington and Boise State and he'll be visiting Montlake this weekend.

"I cancelled the visit to Boise State visit to go to U-Dub this weekend," McClatcher said. "I'm looking forward to a great environment and all of the support there.

"I'm looking forward to the meetings with the professors and the academic advisers and the coaches and just hanging out with the players too."

While he's been a featured player for his team for the past three years, McClatcher really stepped it up his senior season, adding some size and rarely coming off the field.

"I'm 5'8, 172 now and I played my senior season at a bigger weight," McClatcher said. "I played well, like last year. I have to give it up to my line though. My line played the best of anyone in the whole state in my opinion.

"I was just always trying to contribute to my team to help them win and make plays."

McClatcher finished the season with over 1,600 yards on the ground and 25 touchdowns while returning five kicks and/or punts for touchdowns and also posting 40 tackles and three interceptions.
