Decision Looms For UW Target

Last weekend, L.A. Pierce S Ezekiel Turner told Dawgman.com he was close to deciding where he wanted to play ball for the next three years. The talented safety shared with Dawgman.com that he is very close to committing to one of two programs and he said that decision could be made within the next 24 to 48 hours...

"I've pretty much decided, but I'm still just sorta thinking about things a little bit more before I decide," Turner told Dawgman.com Friday afternoon. "My parents met with coach (Jimmy) Lake and coach (Bob) Stoops on Wednesday and those are the two schools that I'm choosing between."

While Lake and Turner have a very good relationship, it seemed to say something that Stoops was willing to fly to Maryland to meet with his parents whereas Chris Petersen was absent from Washington's one in-home opportunity. Turner said that was not as big of a deal as it seems.

"Coach Petersen wasn't going to be there and we all knew that, but since the visits (on Wednesday), he and my parents have talked three or four times, so it isn't like he hasn't made an effort to answer their questions," Turner said. "I know coach Petersen cares about me and that I play for their team and that I'm a priority, so it won't play into my decision at all."

When asked to break down each of his two finalists, Turner came up with several good reasons to choose either one.

"With Washington, I have a great relationship with the coaches and they need a safety right away," Turner said. "They also have great academics and I really like their location and they have a really good program up there.

"When you look at Oklahoma, they have a good program and a winning tradition. I have a good relationship with the coaches there too and their location is great."

Turner said the distance from family is also another non-factor in where he will play.

Turner finished the 2014 football season with 35 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss and one interception.

He is a very good student and he will have four years to play three starting in 2015.
