Huskies Offer In-State DE Prospect

Lynden (Wa.) DE Bryce Sterk was one of the standout players in the 2A classification this past season after a very solid senior season. On Thursday, the talented defensive line prospect met with UW head coach Chris Petersen and after the conversation was concluded, he had an offer from the Dawgs...

"Coach Petersen and coach (Jeff) Choate were both up here today and they offered me," a happy Sterk told "They said they liked my intensity and how I play and they said that I was their kind of a guy."

The offer from Washington joins the three Sterk already had from Eastern Washington, Portland State and Wyoming and he's also had some interest from New Mexico as well.

"It was really great to get the offer," Sterk said. "I already visited Eastern last weekend (1/9 - 1/11) and I'm set up to visit Washington next weekend (1/23).

"After that visit, I will make my decision."

As a senior this past fall, Sterk was a stalwart, posting 84 tackles, 10 sacks, 22 quarterback hurries and six forced fumbles.

"Washington likes me as a pass-rush specialist, something like what Hau'oli Kikaha played this past season, and they said they like my motor," Sterk said. "Rushing the quarterback is definitely my specialty. I like to get after the quarterback and disrupt things and feel like I do that pretty consistently."

We will have more from Sterk after his visit to Montlake next week.
